With any solution there are many options and many paths to achieve your goals. Which path you choose really depends on your target user group. You have several options at your disposal with FileMaker Pro 7 to create user-defined labels. In one case you can create dynamic labels with just a couple of fields in under a minute. However, that requires that the users are capable of writing some basic FileMaker calculations. As such, it may also require that you provide user training and tech support. If that’s too much for you or your users there is an alternative method. However, that requires that you create some additional programming. Finally, by spending a little more time and adding a few additional fields, scripts, and value lists you can blend the basic and advanced capabilities of FileMaker Pro 7 to create a truly dynamic, user-defined label with full text formatting that is relatively intuitive for your users to handle. This article will explore three methods of creating user-defined, dynamic labels.
