Gone are the days of open systems, relaxed security, and no IT support requirements. FileMaker Pro 7 now contains robust security capabilities that require developers to address the installation of security and user accounts for every new or converted system that you build. Once you get past the new security interface you’ll come to realize that it’s not much different than previous versions of FileMaker Pro except that all tables and accounts for each database are managed from a single location. But perhaps the best change is that it now uses a separate account for each user rather than group passwords, which means that you can finally authenticate users within FileMaker without having to build an entire security system of your own.
