If you have ever used dynamic scripting to process records using a field with a returned separated list of values you know how difficult the task is to parse the values from the field. FileMaker Pro 8 has a new function called GetValue that takes all the pain out of the parsing process. All you have to supply to the function is the return separated list of values, which can be from a text field, a value list, or even related records and the value number for the row that you want use. The GetValue function then does the rest of the heavy lifting to parse the list for the specified value. Since this new feature has unlimited potential this demo has four examples to show you some possibilities of the GetValue function. The examples are increasing in complexity as well as utility. They certainly don't represent all that is available to the cleaver FileMaker developer. However, I'm sure with a little practice you will come up with some interesting capabilities.
