Repeating fields are a concept that is unique to FileMaker Pro. Novice users seem to use a lot of them for data entry and calculations despite that fact that they are really only meant to be used as global storage containers. I hope that one day FileMaker gets rid of this horrible field option because it causes more problems that it's worth when not used correctly. For now, FileMaker Pro 8 has made processing data in repeating fields a bit easier by allowing the use of a calculation to specify the repeating field number.
