There is a very interesting phenomenon when using the web viewer function on Windows with a relative file path such as "file:///C:\". The web viewer will allow you to navigate the entire folder structure of the operating system. It also shows the Windows user interface in the web viewer. You can open folders, view files, view mapped drives, etc. By coupling this with the browser controls and a pop-up menu for the URL you can use FileMaker to keep track of your favorite locations and files rather than having tons of short cuts on your desktop. Forgot where that file was located? No problem — store the file path in your searchable FileMaker Pro database! Sorry OS X users, the operating system won't allow you to view the contents of directories. The UNIX operating system of OS X is quite a bit more secure than Windows.
