Storing find requests is a very productive technique for end users. The problems with ad-hoc reports are that they are not run very often. Thus, it's hard for the users to remember the exact search criteria they used to generate the report. It's even harder for the users to tell other users how to find the records. Using a custom function and two moderately difficult scripts you can create a dynamic system to store find requests over multiple fields that can be applied to your entire solution very quickly.
