New FileMaker webcast on business-to-employee mobile apps features leading analyst firm

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – September 25, 2012– A new webcast, featuring Gartner analyst Van Baker and FileMaker’s Ryan Rosenberg, explores trends and best practices in creating and managing custom business-to-employee (B-to-E) mobile apps.

Baker, Gartner vice president and research director, discusses how innovative companies are improving productivity, efficiency and customer satisfaction with B-to-E apps.

He also details key requirements for B-to-E apps, such as security and integration with business systems, which are quite different from those of consumer apps.

Baker summarizes issues, such as selection of tools and the power of native functions, for IT to consider when building custom apps.

Ryan Rosenberg, FileMaker vice president of marketing and services, explains the unique advantages of using the FileMaker Platform for iPad and iPhone apps. These include:

  • A comprehensive environment for the end-to-end app lifecycle that spans design, build, integration, security, management, deployment and updates.
  • A robust visual development environment for creating full-featured apps with the ability to capture digital signatures, create PDF files, and generate rich reports and charts.
  • Instant updates to FileMaker apps, automatically pushed to all connected users, requiring no user action.

Rosenberg also discusses well-known customers gaining competitive advantages with the FileMaker Platform. These include Benetton, Austin Convention Center and Lee Medical.

The FileMaker Platform consists of FileMaker Pro desktop software (Windows and Mac) upon which FileMaker apps can be designed and built; FileMaker Server to manage, secure and deploy them; and the FileMaker Go client, a free download from the App Store, to run FileMaker apps on iPad and iPhone.

Also available is a new white paper: “FileMaker: Complete Platform to Create, Deploy, and Manage Custom iPad and iPhone Apps for Business” that describes how innovative businesses are developing custom iOS apps to reap benefits such as increased productivity, cost savings and enhanced customer satisfaction. Another, more in-depth webcast: ) provides a detailed how-to demo on creating iOS apps.
