A design framework is an integrated set of solutions to the most fundamental and common user interaction and user interface design problems. It's nothing like a template — instead, it's a design environment within which a wide range of databases can be built. The consistency it provides achieves two major goals: 1) It gives the end-user an intuitive interface that is consistent across screens, requiring them to learn and remember as little as possible. 2) It provides the shortest possible development times. The consistency that benefits the end-user also benefits the developer and allows for creating collaborative development environments. FileMaker 13's new custom styles and themes makes this the perfect time to build a powerful design framework that will pay back for years.
