Provide a better interface for naming styles.
Sometimes the column is too narrow to see all the descriptive words used to identify what a certain style does or where it is applied.
Absolutely right! - Styles are great, but the narrow, fixed width of this column catapults us back from the realm of "speaking names" into the realm of abbreviations.
Additionally, there should be namespaces. Currently, the name of styles needs to be unique across all types of objects. So, if you have a button called x and a field called x, this is not allowed. So you need to call them button.x and field.x. And since the column is so narrow, you start calling them btn.x and fld.x or even b.x and f.x.
It would be a big improvement if the column widths would just stay as you set them. Even if the widths were stored per file and had to be shared amongst all developers.
This is one of the things that seems like the time FMI would spend on the fix would far offset the frustration of about 10 to 50 unnecessary click-and-drags of column widths per developer per day.
You are so right, and the column widths for styles is only one of many places. The Data Viewer is another. Manage Layouts is another. I can't think of a reason why this would be difficult to engineer.
And in regard to all these things, if you don't keep repeating the complaint over and over again, they tend to think nobody's complaining about it or that it's not a problem. In terms of developer productivity, these things erode our profitability so much more than new features add to it.
