    Idea

As intex suggests at the end of his New text format functions (set tabs and set alignment) Idea a TAB function which does nothing more than produce a tab character / Char( 9 ) could make our string formulas way easier and more readable:

    Set Variable [ $SomeTableData ; "Name" & TAB & "Ideas" & & "intex" & TAB & "super" & & "mrwatson" & TAB & "great" & ]

    Set Variable [ $Result ; ExecuteSQL( $SQL ; TAB ; ) ]

    instead of

    Set Variable [ $SomeTableData ; "Name" & Char(9) & "Ideas" & ¶ & "intex" & Char(9) & "super" & ¶ & "mrwatson" & Char(9) & "great" & ¶ ]

    Set Variable [ $Result ; ExecuteSQL( $SQL ; Char(9) ; ) ]

    Benefits

    • Improved readability of code
    • Increased productivity
    • Easier to type on remote computers, where the shift key may not work to get the ()s.
    • Really quick for FMI to implement

    Use Cases

    • tabulated data
    • Processing ExecuteSQL Results
    • Processing tab delimited text files
    • etc.

This would be a simple-but-awesome improvement to Improve string processing functions! Please vote it up!
