In layout mode, it would be really incredible if the "position" inspector understood math functions. For example, if we wanted to increase the width of an object by 15 points, we could just type in +15 at the end of the existing "width" number, and FileMaker would automatically do the math for us. Another example: if we wanted to nudge an object 7 points over to the left, we would just go into the existing "left" number and type -7 at the end. Then, FileMaker would automatically do the math for us. As it stands now, we always leave OS X's Calculator app open on the screen while we're working in FileMaker, so we can figure out many of the numbers that we're looking for.
