The current tab design which creates layered clickable tabs is very limited aesthetically. The tab itself is rarely large enough to create a satisfying interference area around the type that is shown in the tab. The only way now to create a big tab with smaller type is to use conditional formatting. Though this can produce a much better result, it feels more like we're hacking the system rather than using it elegantly. And the conditionally formatted tabs fail to display properly in Find mode. (See screen shot comparisons below and note how Tab font size is used to hack the the Tab Height via conditional formatting, but doesn't work in Find mode).
I believe giving users much more control over tab width AND tab height would be truly welcomed. And why not allow us to create tabs that are fully rounded? (Arcs). Tab design is an essential component of UI design and right now, this control is sorely lacking.
