So FileMaker Server has a ton of features and power tools -- including the ability to see idle time of users (which was misguidedly removed from the FMS user interface)  -- but many of these features and power tools require the command line to access them.

However, FileMaker Inc. has never released an official step-by-step beginners guide on using the command line with FileMaker Server. The extremely sparse documentation on this ALREADY ASSUMES a thorough understanding of the UNIX programming language.

This is the wrong approach -- we need documentation for normal human beings.

Ironically, FileMaker Inc. DOES release excellent step-by-step guides to things like optimizing performance through design.

It would be extremely helpful if FileMaker Inc. also gave us an official beginners step-by-step guide to using the command line with FileMaker Server. Explain it to us like we're 5 years old.
