This would be really helpful in certain situations. Faster repeated barcode scanning is one, but there are other reasons you might never want to commit an image or signature to a field and simply pass the data in a variable.
Would be the "partner"-function of this:
Write the content of a variable or formula to disk directly
Maybe? I do not need it written to a disk. Memory would be fine for me. The need to generate a new record or commit a record is the issue I have. The best case so far is having a Global field and that requires a table, an object on a layout, and a commit at the minimum. Possibly some layout changes along the way. All that for something that I only really need in memory for a few seconds.
This would be useful for easier development and also for a better user experience.
I don't have a need to write variables to disk, but if FMI adds the feature I might find a way to use it.
Without a commit, fields are not written.
Especially with server and a global field (which goes per session), data is not written at all.
So you don't need insert to variable...
