Add ‘date created’, ‘modified’ and ‘last run’ to Script workspace, and add ‘Date Created’, ‘Modified’ and ‘Last entered’ to the manage layouts menu.
For example, we have a database with 1550 scripts and 596 layouts. To keep track of which script is changed or new we put a creation and modify date in the script name. Before we delete a script we run a database design report to see if the script we think is obsolete is in use on a layout. Then we put ‘x_ 2017-08-02 marked as delete’ before the script name of the script we think can be deleted, and send ourselves a mail when the marked as delete script is nonetheless activated. After e few moths we delete the script permanently.
For the layouts we do the same and activate a script that sends us a mail when that layout is entered.
It’s a lot of work and sometimes one of us forgets, and, also important, we have to make time to clean the database.
So to keep the FMdatabases clean, up-to-date and to keep records for audits and prevent cleaning layouts or scripts that are still in use, it would be great if Filemaker would add these columns to the Script work space and the Manage layouts menu.
I think this is a must have for FMdatabases, and also very handy when you work with more developers on the databases.
I added samples to show what it would look like.
