Of the universe of members, 95 saw the idea, of which 18 members vote in favor.Possible causes ?
Some people here constantly fear, that FMI could earn too little ... same problem with keeping and refreshing the Runtime.
The figures (visits) are more dramatic, the number of visits is greater than the actual number of members who see the idea.
A simple thought to think about addressed to Sales/Product Management:
- Would you bet an investment on a technology and your partner basically tells you "I don't want to tell you yet how much I'm going to charge you" (maybe like a "marriage to a stranger" and you don't know how costly it's going to be at the end)
Frankly, I'm honest to my customers and tell them "Sorry, I can't tell you and as long as the pricing is not set, you can not calculate. Don't go for it."
I think you should consider rephrasing what you are proposing. Explaining a little bit what you are thinking, what is the problem with the current model we have and how you propose is going to be enhanced by your suggestion. I have read myself this proposition many times and I still do not understand it properly. Please bear in mind that not everyone is developing exactly the same kind of solutions you are doing, at least not at the same time.
( on DATA API )
Hi David, ??? ...what model are you referring to ?
I understand that the deadline was extended, ... from September 2017 to September 2018.
pd: There may be information that I do not know.
I think Draco is proposing that the Data API remain free as an incentive to bring new licensees to the FileMaker platform.
Hi David, I talk about this.
thank you very much Peter, English is not my native language
If we have to pay for a basic integration feature like REST, then we also would have to pay separately for the GUI. OR we can still use the hackish XML interface to build a RESTful interface. So, hack or official support? The latter must compete with the hack, which is... free!
Now I understand better your proposal. I think you are right, it should be free.
It definitely should be free. As it is now it is basically an internal API that we have to also develop an external visible REST API for. If FileMaker wants us to pay for connections as well (or say - calls to the API) then it is dead in the water. We will keep using the inferior ODBC to MySQL as a Method to transfer Data to and from the WebServer, or develop a REST Service on the Webserver and Sync all data periodically to the WebServer using that interface. And enjoy a free RESTful API on that server...
