Summary

FileMaker server command line admin tools do not work for members of Administrator Groups.

Product

FileMaker Server

Version

11, 12

Operating system version

Windows Server 2008 R2, Mac OS X 10.8.2

Description of the issue

When using the fmsadmin command line tool, “error 9 Permission Denied” is encountered if user tries to make any server queries or adjustments using an Administrator Group login and password. Administrator Group login and password work for the Admin Console, and fmsadmin works with the main administrator login, but members of Administrator Groups do not seem to have any access to the files in their designated folders, client lists, etc

Steps to reproduce the problem

-Create a new Administrator Group, choose a group folder, and    grant full permission.

-Save Changes

-Open Command Prompt or Terminal and type:
fmsadmin -u AdminGroupName -p AdminGroupPass list files

-Result: error 9: Permission denied.

Expected result

Members of Administrator Groups should have access to their designated folder via the fmsadmin command line tool, be able to list their files, clients, view plugins, etc.

Actual result

error 9: Permission denied.

Exact text of any error message(s) that appear

"fmsadmin: Permission denied.
Error: 9
"

Configuration information

Seems to occur with FileMaker Server 11 and 12, in mac and windows.
