When one of you hosts the database, how does the other person open the hosted file. Are they launching filemaker and using Open Remote to connect to it like they should?
Are both of you using the same version of filemaker on a computer with the same operating systems? (might explain different recover results.)
When you recovered the file, did you have your boss send you the copy he attempted to recover so you could try the recover or are you recovering a copy already on your computer?
Thanks for replying....
We are both accessing the file remotely (open remote), when it's not on our own computers.
We are not using the same copy of filemaker, they are two unique copies of the program. I'm on leopard using FMP 10 Adv. and my boss is on snow leopard using FMP 10 (not advanced)
Yes, my boss gave me the exact same file that he originally recovered.
Any additional thoughts?
I appreciate your time Phil.
Hmm, if one of you were using filemaker 9 or earlier or one of you were on a windows system, I think it more likely that such a difference might be the cause of the different recover results.
There have been a number of issues with filemaker and snow leopard. If you search the forum, you'll find a number of such threads here and under report a bug.
Here's one such thread:
Thanks for the lead Phil.
My boss did just upgrade from FMP 9 to 10 about 2 weeks ago, thinking that might solve the problem. Alas it has not... I'll look into the potential snow leopard issue instead.
