The simple answer is to simply select the my documents folder when you set up the export. That seems too simple.
What exactly do you want to do?
Problem is, this export will be used on different computers.
EXPORT: Output file path
Does Filemaker 7 have the ability to use wildcards?
I tried: file:%USERPROFILE%/my documents/All Owners.csv
Thank you for your post.
Although not available in FileMaker Pro 7, the current release (FileMaker Pro 10) does have the Get (DocumentsPath) function that does exactly what you want. It returns:
/C:/Documents and Settings/<username>/My Documents/
/<hard disk name>/Users/<username>/Documents/
You can then put this information into a variable and use it for exporting. For example:
Set Variable [ $path ; "file:" & Get (DocumentsPath) & "All Owners.csv"
Export Records [ No dialog ; "$path" ; Unicode (UTF-16) ]
This will save to the personal (My) Documents folder if the user is running Windows or Macintosh.
Is there a workaround for version 7?
In FileMaker Pro 7, you would have to specify the directory for each user.
