Filemaker as "Front End" to MS SQL 2012 - recommended or not?

Post

Aloha group, I have a licensed version of FM Pro 11 and have gotten far enough to a form updated a SQL table.  So I know it works, but when reading the PDF "Introduction to External SQL Sources", this line from page four stood out:

"The emphasis with ESS should be on integration. The ESS feature set is not intended to allow FileMaker Pro to act as a “front end” to SQL data sources."

Anyone opinions on spending my time doing just this, for a simple two table application?

Alan
