Open preferences and check the Memory tab. What options have you selected there?
Exactly how are you remotely accessing the database?
I use File>open remote and select the remote host via fmnet on a static ip, or sometimes I use the local host ip if I'm there.
I'm not there so I can't check that machine's FMP. I assume it's the same as my laptop which is to save cache when idle. Would "every 10 minutes" solve my problem?
Thanks for the fast reply, PhilModjunk!
That would seem one way to resolve this, but it seems odd that "when idle" isn't working for you. I would guess that you've set a very large File Cache on the hosting copy of FIleMaker.
It's been set to 8 mb, the minimum, all this time. Very odd.
Well, I set it to 10 minutes and that seems to be working now. Thanks.
This happened again, and with much testing I figured out that it's a problem with Dropbox. There should be a large banner somewhere in the sky that says "do not use Filemaker with Dropbox"
DB will not update the file for weeks, and after a crash will restore the old file over the updated one.
