filemaker oro 12 password lost
Hi I need help. our admin password holder is no longer with my company and we do not have the password he set. How can i reset this on filemaker pro 12??
It can't be done without knowing the original password. A letter from a lawyer to the former employee may be in order. If the database is the property of the employer the former employee is obligated to supply the password.
At one time, FileMaker Inc. could recover the password for you for a fee if you could prove that you had a legal right to access the database. I don't know if this is still possible, but you could call and ask.
There is a utility "out there" that claims to be able to insert a new admin level account into an existing file. I have never used it. I don't know if it works with FileMaker 13. It modifies the file so there is a significant risk that it could damage the file, but if all other options fail for you...
As far as I know FMI no longer offers this service. Is there not a way to contact the original admin? I ask this because it could be that the former employee is no longer with the company as a result of passing away.
I see. No he did not pass away its just hard to get in contact with him. I will call support and see what info i need to provide if for chance they can help!! Thank you guys for your help.
There is a Windows program that will strip the passwords out of the application for all created User-IDs. I got it, and it works. I used it with FP3, FP5, FP7. I think it was works with v12 as well.
