Title

FileMaker Pro 11 - If Statement Script

Post

Hey!

I'm currently in the process of creating a database that facilitates the recording of patient data at a hospital.

I want to create a script that changes depending on situation (An If statement) I know what I want to do but I don't know how to implement it in FileMaker, I will have a go explaining the desired out come below:

This script will run on a button. When the button is pressed I want the script to:

  1. Copy the ID field from the current layout
  2. Go to a new layout
  3. Enter find mode
  4. Paste the ID field into the relavent field
  5. Conduct the Search
  6. IF the search finds a result (There can only be 2 possible outcomes the way my tables are set up, either there is one entry or there is none), then display the result and exit browse mode.
  7. ELSE IF Request new record
  8. End If

This is what I want to implement, however I must be using incorrect syntax as the script is not working for me currently.

Any ideas/suggestions/advice?

Many Thanks,

Francis
