In terms of file format, filemaker 7, 8, 9 and 10 databases are exactly the same. In fact, a database created in FMP 10 will still receive the .FP7 file extension in windows systems.
Thus, a file hosted by FMP 7 should be readily accessible by users FMP 8 and FMP 10--they just won't be able to use any of the newer capabilities while working with this older file.
OK, I am new to the forum, but not new to FileMaker Pro. We are currently using FMP 7 and would like to move to FMP 10. So I would like to use FMP 10 features such as the calendar, in my FMP 7 databases. Recommendations? How do I convert FMP 7 databases to FMP 10? Or do I need to?
Thank you for your assistance.
Open the database in FMP 10 add the ver10 only options.
When opened in FMP versions that do not support those options, they will not appear.
Work on a COPY!!! and TEST before implementing the changes
