Filemaker Pro 9 (FMP9) activation system "waiting for response" - phone for new licence key

      Title

Filemaker Pro 9 (FMP9) activation system "waiting for response" - phone for new licence key

      Post

Migrated FMP9 to new computer, all other apps OK by clone, but not FMP9 with complex registration system.

Reinstalled from CD. Deactivated copy on old computer (though only got one copy installed). Still hangs, or says "no internet connection", or says "too many copies activated" inconsistently.

Tried to find how to repair licence activation key, but no info. Tried deleting ~/Library/Preferences/Filemaker Preferences, didn't help.

Thread here on activation error General activation error 50018 points to support answer http://help.filemaker.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/6794 that says phone tech support.

Phoned tech support (at least there was no phone queue) - turns out the internet activation system is no longer used with FMP9. Would be nice if FMP9 error said that or else that information was available somewhere online.

So tech support will send a new licence key that does not require online activation system at all.

(Thanks PhilModJunk - have fixed links)

And your experience is likely a reasion why FileMaker 10 and 11 do not use this activation method. Wink

To make a link clickable, paste the link text, select it, then click the chain tool at the top left of the Post A Answer tool bar, then paste the text again into the first field of the dialog that pops up. Of course you can select any text such as "Click here" and use it as your link text via this tool. You can also click the HTML icon to bring up the HTML editor and then you can paste link text with all needed HTML tags to make it a "clickable" link.
