There is a Reset option for Toolbars - may or may not help Assuming Windows
Removing the Navigation Controls during Status Area customization creates multiple issues on the Windows platform such as:
- Removing everything from the Status Area can create possible redraw issues.
- If all tools are removed, the remaining Status Area turns into a little gray area with the drop down menu shifted to the left side of the Status Area. The rest of tey Status Area turns into a dark gray background .
- In order to re-add the tool bar, the toolbar needs to be reset (Windows: In the Toolbars tab, select Status Toolbar, then click Reset) Upon resetting, the Status Area is displayed with the lower half of it hidden behind the layout bar.
- If the formatting bar is open when the Toolbar is reset, the formatting bar is drawn over the layout bar.
Thanks for that info, David. I might expect it from Windows, but I'm on a Mac.
Even then, I hadn't even changed anything on my toolbar when this "problem" started.
This "problem" is still affecting me after dragging the default toolbar icon set onto the toolbar and adding the "Manage" icon with a brand new empty database.
Possible bugs should be reported in Report An Issue. I haven't seen any that are similar to this one so you may want to try trashing preferences and if that makes no difference, re-installing the software.
So, I'm sure that at some point I wondered what this preference setting did ... RESET
So, the "problem" came back after I loaded FM11. Now I can't solve it by RESET .
I thought I knew where the preference file for FM11 and FM12 are stored:
I don't even have a searched "com.f" or "com.f*" file anywhere according to Finder.
Just to finish this thread out ...
I never did find a good reason/solution for this "problem". It comes and goes.
I did finally get reminded that the "Preference" folder with the Filemaker Preference file contained within is usually a hidden file.
To find it, just select "Go to Folder" in Finder and choose ~/Library and then you'll get a window where you can navigate to Application Support and/or Preferences and clean things out.
