    Finding Empty Field

      Title

      Finding Empty Field

      Post

Can anybody tell me why this would not work

      Enter Find mode

      Set Field [textfield;"="]

      Perform Find

The result is no records found but there are records with nothing in the text field.

This is just part of a bigger script and it worked fine in one file but not another. Could my file be corrupted in some way?

I have also tried specify find and that doesn't work either -on this field.

It is just a regular text field- what am I missing?

      Thanks in advance

          Things to check...

          - Are you sure that those fields are indeed empty? Perhaps there are some spaces?

          - What happens if you perform the find manually?

          - Is your perform find script step using a [Restore]?

          - Is it referring to the correcty table occurrence for that field?

BINGO-The first steps in my script are

            Show all records

            Replace Field Contents [Textfield;" "]

            As opposed to

            Replace Field Contents [Textfield;""]

I didn't notice the space in browse mode because the field was aligned centre.

Thank you very much for your help!

This worked perfectly for what I needed it for.
