You need to split this record up into a set of related records linked to your student table. That will make the search you want much simpler as well as setting up a much more flexible structure for your data.
I really apriciate the reply.
I was hoping to be able to sum the paid fields via 2 date fields. (date range) I dont need to know fees per indivdual student record, just everthing paid between the ranges globally.
Can it be done with my current structure? can u step me through a possible script?
It will be very impractical to do this with your current structure. You have 12 date fields in one record and that will make for all kinds of problems working with your data. After you split this data up so that each row of fields in your screen shot are stored in a different related record, it all becomes much simpler to work with and you will still be able to add up totals for a given student even when the fees are all in separate related records.
Students::__pkStudentID = Fees::_fkStudentID

I also recommend that you look up "portal" in FileMaker help and any training materials that you have.
