You are not giving us any information about what the data disc contains
what FM you have
what computer you have
how you have set it up
and what you are trying or have tried to do
go pont by point
I am supposed to be doing data entries - cool
My boss sent me a disc with a database on it. - probley you will find the file ending with .fp7 or .fp6 or similer like this
ok . you need to open that file from your computer . for this you need to have Filemaker pro software . its you can download fom filemaker (trial) aftter download you have to install it on your computer( this if you dont have filemakeron your computer) windows- Proggrame files/ Mac -Applications
&& please check if you have Filemaker application before began , if you dont have please try to install it to your computer.
after install filemaker pro you need to copy that filemaker DB which you got via CD in to secure location in the PC/or mac
ok then every thing good to go
open that DB file ( if you installed correctly )it shoud open from filemaker.
and you can play with data enterring
I already have the Pro 11 trial installed. The DB file ends with .fp7. The DB file opens to the first record when I insert disc, but it doesn't allow me to go through the records or modify what comes up on the screen. How do I copy the DB?
Drag the file from the CD to a directory on your computer.
dont think too much
just copy that File in to your computer desktop or inside Documents
copy that file and take out the CD. (keep it some where elese / dont touch it)
open the one which you copied
(just dubble click it , it will open from filemaker pro)
then play with data entry
what is the Operating System are you using
Mac Os (Apple )
Windows ( Microsoft)
HI...Believe me, not trying to think too much haha! But when you say "just copy that File" what do you mean? Clicking on Copy doesn't do it. What will?
Don't launch Filemaker.
Open a window listing your CD's files (Steps vary depending on whether you have a Mac or Windows system.)
Use your mouse to drag the filemaker file from this window to your desktop or a directory where you want to keep this file.
Now open this copy with filemaker.
Ok- got it! Thanks so much for the help!
