FM 9 to 11: Goto Related Record in External SQL table behaves different

Post

I have an application that I build in FileMaker 9 back in 2007 that would accept a user provided list of ISBN's and would then search an Oracle database for those ISBN's via ESS and display the results in FileMaker.

In FM9, I recognized that I could only use the Goto Related Record (GTRR) script step from a global text field (each ISBN is carriage return separated), to an External SQL Source (ESS) when there were less than 1000 ISBN's. Doing so was EXTREMELY fast, and whenever there were more than that, I'd get the first 1000, and then extend the found set using a looping find to get the remaining difference (slow!).

Now, in FileMaker 11, the maximum amount of ISBN's that the same application can use via GTRR is about 300. Is this a documented change somewhere? Nothing else has changed except the FileMaker client. I'm mostly curious as to why the reduction.
