I have had this problem in the past. It resolved for me by resetting the print system of the Mac in System Preferences and recreating the print queues. Reinstall of FileMaker Pro was not needed and produced no effect when I did it.
Thank you for your post.
The answer provided by "ErichWetzel" is one possibility (Thank you!). However, I'm not sure what your script is doing, so it may not even be print related. Are you able to determine which script step is causing the crash?
It's in fact two scripts I have discovered so far that cause FM to crash:
#1: "Send Mail [Send via E-Mail Client"
#2: This script here:
Go to Layout ["Order Receipt" (Orders)]]
Go to Layout [original layout]
My problem and fix applied to an identical situation to your #2 script. Another alternative might be to recreate the script from scratch and see if that helps. I cannot speak to #1 as I have not had crashes with email steps.
In #1, what other options do you have for Send Mail script step? Does the other Mac user have Mail launched? (Not necessary, but trying to get a complete sense of the environment). How about trying a simple "Send Mail" with a test message to a fixed email address? How about trying via SMTP server? I'm just trying to narrow down possible causes, but I'll need your help.
thanks for you reply - I'll try with a fixed email address and see how it goes.
How about the printing? Do you have any ideas? I removed the printer and re-added it - still the same problem. FM will crash every time on that one Mac.
Thanks for your help.
If you were trying my suggestion... removing the printer and recreating it did not solve the printing problem for us.
We needed to Reset the printing system:
System Preferences > Print and Fax > hold down control on keyboard and click in space showing printer list. You will get a pop up at the cursor saying "Reset Printing System." This resets the entire printing system to its defaults.
