Open URL can use a calculation that is evaluated to produce the desired URL--which can be an expression that refers to the contents of a text field or the text passed to your script as a script parameter.
Not sure PhilModJunk, if I follow you 100%...
Each record in that resource reference field would contain a unique URL pointing to the source of the resource on the web. So klicking on the record takes the user there. From your answer this should be possible, but how do I do that? By now you realize you deal with an FM amateur here ;-)
Define a text field in your table. I'll call table and field "URLTable::URLaddress".
Create a script and add Open URL to it.
Click "perform without dialog" and click specify...
This opens a small dialog with a text box named "URL".
Click the Specify button to the right of it.
This opens the Specify Calcualtion dialog.
Find your URL text field in the list of fields in the upper left portion of this dialog and double click it to add it to the calculation box at the bottom. Using my names, you'd see:
As the sole item in this box.
Run your script.
You can find several examples of using Open URL in a script that use this kind of reference in the Known Bugs List Database.
Bingo! It works beautiful - I even created a button on the layout to trigger the script. Many thanks
