Title

FM Pro performance when copying and checking records between tables

Post

     Hi,

I need to import about 9000 records from an external file, copy them in a temporary table, make some changes to the data and then copy them to two existing tables.

I have made a script that:

     1. import records in temporary table

     2. make changes to imported data

     3. loops each temporary table record and for each record wil:

       a. copy data to and existing table by adding a new record

       b. check if such record "key" exists in another table too (Performs a find)

       c. if no record is found with the find it will add a record to the table

Step three is performed for all 9000 records.

It seems to work but it takes a lot of time to complete.

Is that correct? Is there any other better way to do this?

     thanks!
