FM12 performance - very long to update the screen

      Post

I have start some test with FM12 and I have found that:
both converting and application from FM11 or starting from scratch I found that updating the screen is it quite long, in any case much more than FM11.
I run a script to perform a find in about 4000 records. Before to exit, I put a custom dialog. The display of the custom dialog is almost immediately, but from closing the dialog to update the screen it takes more than a second.
      local machine no server

Does anyone have similar of different experience?

Sounds like another manifistation of this issue:     Scrolling in List view is very slow

This is one of many acknowledged bugs that can be found in the Known Bug List thread here in the Report an Issue section of the forum.

It can also be downloaded as a database file from:    http://www.4shared.com/file/8orL8apk/FMP_Bugs.html

            Thank you for your post.

It's not clear if you are in Table View or Form View.  If Form View, then I would like to see your FileMaker Pro 11 file so I can test it here, convert to FileMaker Pro 12, and compare the differences.  Please check your Inbox at the top of this page for instructions where to send the file.

              I'm in form view.
Unfortunately, I'm not allow to send you the full application with data.

I made some other tests and I found that the problem is the CONDITIONAL FORMATTING:
I made a simple script to test:

              Set Variable[$t; Value:Get ( CurrentTime )]
              Show All Records
              Go to Record/Request/Page
              [First]
              Loop
              Refresh Window
              Go to Record/Request/Page
              [Next; Exit after last]
              End Loop
              Set Variable[$t[2]; Value:Get ( CurrentTime )]
              Set Variable[$t[3]; Value:$t[2] - $t]
              Show Custom Dialog[Message:$t & "  -  " & $t[2]& "  -  " & $t[3]; Default Button:“OK”, Commit:“Yes”

The script reads all (1460) records and displays them in form view, with 2 portals, some conditional formatting.
it takes 11+minutes (about 2 records per second!) to complete

when I take out 2 fields that:
each field is a repeating field with 56 repetitions
both are displays in one portal
the first field has 1 simple conditional formatting (value = 1)
the second field has 3 simple conditional formatting (values = 1)

the test takes 1min and 38 secs. About 10x less

              Many thanks

              Gianandrea

I would like to update my previous post:

I found a small error in my application and I rerun the tests. FMPA 12 v01 Windows 7. clera cache before run the tests. Form view.

Full: 2 portals, 2 repeating fields (56 repetitions) that are displayed in one of the portals. These 2 fields have conditional formatting: the first one condition, the second  3 conditions.
Time to run the script: 14 min and 50 sec.

Without conditional formatting of the 2 repeating fields:
Time to run the script: 7 min and 49 sec.

Display only 1 repetition of the 2 fields with conditional formatting:
Time to run the script: 1 min and 51 sec.

Display only 1 repetition of the 2 fields without conditional formatting:
Time to run the script: 1 min and 39 sec.

So, just displaying in a portal a correlate repeating field increases the time by a factor of 4
Adding conditional formatting increases the time by a factor of 8
