It appears that it is layoutsin the last folder or items after the last folder. If I move the layouts out of the folder and higher in the list they will open. If I move them back they will not open. If I move the folder with the layouts in it higher in the list it they will open but ones in the folder that is now the last folder will not.
It seems to be layouts below a certain position in the list but not necessarily all alyouts below that point. If I move one not in a folder but that layout is the last in the list to the top of the list it will open. If I move it back to its original position it will now open. If I move it into the last folder and then out to the bottom of the list it will not longer open.
Are you seeing this problem in both browse and layout modes?
If you create a new file, does it show the same problem?
If you recover a copy of the file, does the recovery report any problems? Does the recovered file show the same behavior?
Are you sure you did not have this issue with FM10 ?? on windows.
The reason I ask is FM10 also suffered this problem, once you pass layout no 255 I think it is... its not just related to FM11
Problem exists in browse and layout modes. We have 293 layouts ... yes, way too many ... it really does seem to be related to layouts that existed before updating to FMP 11. We can create new layouts below the level of the problem ones and they work just fine. Also, if I move them higher in the list or into a folder higher in the list, they work.
I may try a recovery but it doesn't make sense that they work in another location in the list. I have gotten feedback from other's on the forum that some users of FMP 10 had similar problems for layouts in excess of 255. Was 255 layouts ever a sepcifications limit in an old version of Filemaker (just wondering) my memory seems to remember something like that.
This database has it's roots all the way back to Filemaker 3 and maybe back to Claris. Maybe their is a legacy glitch of some kind.
I believe the problem is more related to the implementation of the drop down, TSGal states this also here :
There is also a knowledge base article :
