Surely someone has managed to do this.
No reply from FileMaker, No reply from MYOB.
I assume it can't be done
Greg, I have been connecting to MYOB for years. You cannot use it for ESS, but ODBC import works.
No problems with ODBC import for me either. The problem occurs when you try to use it in a relationship
FileMaker DB wont work with ESS, perhaps next version (Australian anyway) might, its been rewritten in SQL, nbot usre of flavour though.
I'd guessed that. I'm still looking at potential alternative accounting systems to connect to. The Enterprise version of MYOB connects easily but its a little over the top for what I need.
When I spoke to both FileMaker MYOB support they both said that it does work.
Thanks for the feedback
Thank you Matt for your interest and comments
Greg Roberts (et al):
Thank you for your posts, and I apologize for the late reply.
Another customer last year reported something similar using the accounting package "Account Edge 2011". In essence, when trying to import ODBC data from Account Edge, FileMaker Pro (versions 9, 10 and 11) does not pass authentication credentials. Our Testing department was able to verify the issue and it was sent on to Development for additional review. No other information is available.
I see that "Matt Sawyer" has also responded to a similar forum thread at:
It looks like this was partially updated with a new driver from Account Edge 2011.
Any other information you can provide, I'll make sure the original report is updated.
I didn't have any problems with using the import function in FMP to get data from MYOB. The problem revoved around the relationships and trying to include the MYOB datasource.
That is when the error occurs.
Thanks for the clarification.
At this time, the only data sources we support are Oracle, MySQL and SQL Server. For more information, see Knowledge Base Article #6420 at:
Any other ODBC data source will return the error message you received.
I encourage you to enter this as a product enhancement to our Feature Requests web form at:
