      Title

      fmp11 file recover

      Post

had been testing out v11 for 7+ days from v9.

      everyting looks ok so far.

today, decide to do a file recover with v11 on this file and got this message:

WARNING: problems were detected while recovering the database.  The recovered file should NOT be used going forward; copy only the most recent work from it into a backup copy of the original file.

File blocks: scanned and rebuilt 35476 block(s), dropped 0 invalid data block(s)
Schema: scanned fields and tables; some problems were found...
fields created to match record data: 0
field values deleted due to invalid ID or repetition: 0
records deleted due to invalid ID: 0
      Structure: scanned; 45 item(s) modified
File size after recovery is 140513280 bytes

ok - so, should i ignore the warning - and continue using this file under v11 ?

and is there any thing that i can do to find and fix the file so v11 will recover it correctly when necessary.

[test with v9 file recover ok]

      thanks

      ton

First off,  look in your recovery log file to see if the modified objects are all grouped objects or not.

Then, have a read through this thread :

            thanks sws.

            an interesting read.

i do have many custom functions in the file (but no group object).

looks like will stay on v9 for awhile - just to be safe.

will see if i can 'clean' it out so i can move to v11.

thanks again for looking at the post.

What objects where showing as modified in the log file ?

If you could paste a small portion, that would help...

a few lines from the log.

(but with the hints previously - i will clean them out and move the file over to v11 as necessary)

                thanks again.

                  found my problem.

it had to do with [third party] plug-in in my custom function / calculation field.

after remove the reference to plug-in, recover is good. (re-write my custom function without using the plug-in).

                  thanks.
