FMP6 - splitting a file in half

Dear all,

I have a large file where every article has a unique "accessions number" - a 4 digit code. Is there any way I can select a range of these, for example 1-200 from a file that may contain 1-500 or such? Just as another point, because of the way the catalogue was created, the numbers are unique but do not neccessarily run continuously (e.g 431, 435, 437, 438, etc)

I'm trying to split the file as it is too large and the only way I know how to do this is to save a copy of the file then delete half of the records from each of the 2 new files.

1) Is there a better way to split files than this?

2) How can I specify "find" to find a range of numbers? Is this possible?

3) We are in the process of upgrading to fmp9 but this may take some time.

Many thanks,
