What version of FileMaker are you using?
Shame to say, it's version 5.0 with SP3 (Upgrade 3). This is a custom database!
Do you have a Windows XP computer you can try to run it on as a test?
I haven't tried running version 5 files on a windows 7 system and it may not be compatible.
The other possible cause of the error message is that your file has become damaged and should be recovered or replaced with a back up copy.
You might also try downloading a free trial copy of Filemaker 11 and use it to directly open the database file (may have .USR as the file extension, it will NOT have .exe--that's the application file) This will attempt to create a converted copy of your original file, but if it opens without error, this may indicate that the file is not damaged.
any chance that this is not a FileMaker error? 'Macro' and 'Error 91' is often found when Visual Basic is part of the game...
Good observation. I knew this looked familiar. "With block" would also be a very visual basic like error message.
Perhaps the database is using send event to run a VB application.
Yes, it's part of VB error. As a matter of fact, the shortcut was created by VB pointing to FM database. I am working on it right now, this is NOT a FileMaker error.
The reason a custom shortcut was created is that users don't have to input Host name. They guy did it in VB already retired. Is there anyway I can use FileMaker either Server or Pro to custom a shortcut and hardcode Host name? I need it to replace his custom shortcut which is automatically deployed to pc desktop by AD admin group. thanks.
Use FileMaker Pro to create a new database file.
In this file write a simple script:
From the Specify drop down, select Add FileMaker Data Source.
Use Open Remote to find and select the hosted file you want to open.
Then go to file Options and specify that this script run each time the file is opened.
When you double click this file, the script will run and open the hosted database file for you.
