What OS and version of FileMaker are you using? You may have discovered a bug in FileMaker as this should not happen.
I am using Windows 7 64-bit; FileMaker Pro 13 trial.
I also use Windows 7.
I can't reproduce what you describe and fields can always be resized to make them wider in order to display the values without clipping if such is necessary. See the screen shot that I've made using a field with check boxes formatting and a font size of 8 points:
I changed the font to 6, 7, and 8 and printed the pages, and now everything seems to be working as expected. No names are cut off.
I can't explain what happened, but I am certainly glad the layout changes seem to be working now.
Thanks for being concerned and commenting.
O.K. This is strange. I've changed the container field and have been printing to see how the layout works. I had a good printout, and then the printouts started to get wonky again. Names are cut off. Everything looks fine in the print preview.
Also, I saved as a PDF, and the PDF copy had names cut off.
The strange part is that not all names are cut off--just some of them. The preview looks O.K., but not the printout.
Could this be a problem with sending the data to the printer? But then, I do have a good printout.
I changed the font back to 9 and the FMP print command works correctly. I saved the document as a PDF, and the page printout prints the names correctly.
I guess I'll stick with 9.
The fact that they look correct in preview but print differently suggests that you have encountered a known issue that applies to more than just check box fields. The fix would be to resize your check box field to make it slightly wider so that it does not clip values when printed.
