Text formatting does not work when using Send Mail in Filemaker. You will need to use a plugin to control sizes, fonts, and styles to be used in your emails.
Any suggestions on the best plug in for this? Thank you for your help.
I use it and it has worked well for me.
Thank you for your post.
I'm unsure if you want emails sent from FileMaker Pro to be 14 point, or all emails to be 14 point. If the latter, since you are using Apple's Mail program, launch Mail, pull down the Mail menu and select "Preferences..." Click on the "Fonts & Colors" icon, and change the "Message font" to the desired font and 14 point.
If you only want 14 point font for FileMaker Pro sent emails, then you'll need a third-party solution as TECman suggested (Thank you!)
TSGal I appreciate your interest in my topic. It has been frustrating for me to say the least. Your are correct that you can change the settings in Mac Mail for new emails to be at 14pt. However when filemaker opens a new email, this preference is ignored and the new email via filemaker is always at 12 pt on my Macbook pro using Filemaker 9 advanced.
The Smptit pro suggestion is a nice one, but complex to implement. My only option with them is to use HTML text. Really all I want is formated text.
So for now I am using a utility called text expander, to paste in some 14 pt formated text in each new email once I start typing.
I agree with your comment that SMTPit Pro is complex to implement, however, once you understand its structure, it can do everything you need and more. When I first purchased it I found it easier to take their database sample and build on it. And, yes, you need to know some basic HTML coding to create the result you want.
In addition to formatting type styles, using tables with picture links, and inserting data from your database, one of the best capabilities it offers is placing your database layouts, such as invoices, etc., into the emails.
