Font style from FMP 10 to MYSQL

      Post

We have FMP 10 set up with ODBC to a MYSQL database. In doing this I have no ability to change the font style as format is all grayed out. We have clients who go online and edit copy. Currently, it does not show actual bolding or italics on the online editable version. Here are my questions.

First. We have text that is typed in FMP and have areas that are sometimes bolded or italicized. IS there a way to have the bolding showup on the MYSQL database so that clients can see and edit their text online and it will show the bolding and italics?

For the past 10 years we have been working between fmp and Quarkexpress. Quark does not recognize the bolding or italics of FMP, so we created markers that tell quark to turn bolding or italics on and off. For example

ˆloveˆ would show up in italics love in Quark and ıloveı would show up as Love in bold in quark. The markers of ˆ is for itlaics and ı for bold

Currently when they edit it online the info from FMP shows us as

      B aseball

Then when we switch to the HTML version on line that is not editable, it shows the line as B aseball

Is there a way to have data have bold and italics so that when we let clients edit their text online it is an editable box that shows them the actual bolding and not the code I used above?

If style does not read across from FMP to MYSQL, will a font move across platforms? So we would have a font of Time Bold for the B above and then switch to regular times for the “aseball”. But right now I cannot even change font in FMP while there is remote access to the MSQL database.

Second: Is there a way for us to know what changes have been made? If a client makes a change that we need to edit, we don’t want to go through and search every line and comma to find the change.

Is there any programming that would be a way to highlight or someway to show us the changes that were made. A program that would compare two text boxes that are linked to a unique record ID number (one from the client before changes and one from the same client after changes and mark what the differences are?)
