try this UNSTORED calculation, result text:
Get ( FoundCount ) ≠ Get ( TotalRecordCount ) ; Get ( FoundCount ) & " records found"
Of course, you will see a result ONLY after a find with a FoundCount different from the TotalRecordCount
The result turns up absolutely nothing? The status bar shows me 4/450 the calculation result is a blank box? I have as uncalculated and Number as result.
You need to create a new calculation field, then:
1) put the calc above inside the Specify Calculation window
2) change the result from number to text
3) click the "Storage Options..." button on the bottom-right part
4) check the box: "Do not store calculation results"
Your original expression: Get ( RecordNumber ) & " / " & Get ( FoundCount ) & Case ( Get ( FoundCount ) = Get ( TotalRecordCount ) ; " Total" ; " Found" )
Works for me as long as the calculation result is unstored.
Make sure that this is a field of type calculation, not a number field with an auto-entered calculation.
Wait what are you getting as a return? I have 500 records currently and when I find 3 records my results look like this
272/500, 476/500 etc... I am not getting a record count 1 of 5, 2 of 5, 3 of 5.... I have as a calculation unstored result is a number.
I would get something like "1 / 3 found" (first number will vary from 1 to 3 depending on which record is the current record.
Strange??? I just tried in a different file and I get the same results as you worked perfectly. I can't get to work in my "Order Table" so very weird there is really no difference in the file. Is there a way to know if the file is corrupted? I checked the recover and there are no bad blocks any suggestions for looking under the hood? Is there another way to code?
All I can think of is to make sure that this field is an unstored calculation field, neither a text field with an auto-calculation nore with storge enabled in storage options.
