      Full File Path ?

      Post

      Hello,
      MAC OSX, FMPA 9
How can I add a full data source file path in the Edit Data Source list that refers to the system startup disk without knowing what the end user actually named their start up disk?

Example of one of my failed attempt.
      filemac:/System Startup/Applications/FolderName/filename.fp7

          Hi vcirilli

You could use the Get ( DocumentsPath ) function to find out the users HD name and then add on to that to navigate to the location you want.

So go get the result for your examply try:

          "filemac:"

          & Left ( Get ( DocumentsPath ) ; Position ( Get ( DocumentsPath ) ; "/" ; 1 ; 2 ) ) &

          "Applications/FolderName/filename.fp7"

Also if the file you are navigating to is in the FileMaker app folder then the Get ( FileMakerPath ) will give you the full path to that location minus the "filemac:"

          I hope this helps.

               Try the Get (SystemDrive) function.

I don't think you can do that. Variables are not supported as paths to data sources. You can, however, specify a relative path.

Exactly, thats my problem. Using GET functions would work great if I could use a variable as a data source.
