Does anyone have a Gardning database / templete that I could have a downloaded copy of? I've just upgraded from FileMaker Pro 3 to FileMaker 12. Thank you. ted
I do the almost exactly same thing. I don't mind sharing but i have never passed it via FMP or forum. I have added a Nutitional content and web link on how to... for each type. My cost versus market value is very weak and i have not progressed since my green bean production pays for all of the garden plus my dill pickles are priceless. I also allow storage of adjacent plants to see if there is an improvement in production. I will check on DB transfer and get back to you.
Describe more of what you expect. I have a work in progress of following my personal vegetable garden and fruit trees. I track the planting and production from year to year.
Sounds like what I do. I track everything from seed company, cost, date sown, qua., days to sprout with dates in fields, actual sprouting day which then gives expected harvest date, production by weight, date to start a replacement plant. I use the Square Foot and Vertical gardening methods, all plant locations are listed. A running total of costs and produce "Value" using current prices. That is the basic idea of what I had in Pro 3. Like you I track production year to year which helps to plan next years garden. Lots of fun. Thanks for you qrick responce.
FileMaker Pro 7 and later directly converts files from the following previous versions of FileMaker Pro:
Useful information on converting FileMaker Pro databases from previous versions can be found in the attached FileMaker Pro 8 Converting FileMaker Databases From Previous Versions pdf .
FileMaker Pro cannot directly convert databases created within FileMaker Pro 1.0 or FileMaker Pro 2.x. To use these files with FileMaker Pro 7 amd later, you must convert them using a version of FileMaker Pro from FileMaker Pro 3.0 through FileMaker Pro 6, and then convert them again using FileMaker Pro 7 and later.
Previous versions of FileMaker Pro for Windows can convert only FileMaker Pro 2.x files. If you need to convert a FileMaker Pro 1.0 file, convert the file on a Mac OS computer using a version of FileMaker Pro from FileMaker Pro 3.0 through FileMaker Pro 6.
If you don't have a previous FileMaker Pro application with which to do the conversion, you can download a 30-day trial version of FileMaker Pro 6 from one of the following links:
Mac 8.x-9.x: http://fmdl.filemaker.com/TBUB/fm/6/Mac/fm_60v1_mac_trial.sit.bin Mac OS X: http://fmdl.filemaker.com/TBUB/fm/6/MacOSX/fm_60v1_osx_trial.sit Windows: http://fmdl.filemaker.com/TBUB/fm/6/Win/fm_60v1_win_trial.zip

I would convert FileMaker Pro 3 if I still had it. I had a "Chain Computer Store" do some work on a 7 or 8 year old computer with XP - long story short - the Store could not repair it and installed Windows 7 Pro. That destroyed both hard drives directories beyond recovery! FileMaker Pro3 program, my file and the backup's on both hard drives as well as all other programs and files, I did get all my money back but... I now have an iMac with Windows 7 Pro and OS X Snow Lepard set up so I can use only one operating system at a time.
Thanks for you help,
Backups are important, Backups off the computer before giving it to someone to fix, very important.
I am fond of SuperDuper! for Macs backups (Time Machine is not enough) Winclone http://www.twocanoes.com/winclone/ backs up the Win partition on a Mac. Carbon Copy Cloner is another option as is Crashplan.
http://cx.com gives you 10Gb online free
http://wuala.com gives 5Gb free, encrypted on your computer before sending, runs off of flash drive.
I'd appreciate receiving a copy of your garden template. Please send to email@example.com. Thanks.
I too would like a download link to anyone's garden template for FileMaker. @JimGurley -- do you have one we could download?
I don't mind sharing if you distribute, please credit me. Mine is a work in progress for personal use. Ted got mine if I remember, but I have left it in FMP 11. Soon to 12 then 13 as my other needs demand. I am currently developing some major work in 12, but FMP is faster than me. LOL.
Here are the 2 major layouts. If you want a .fp7 copy, email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
First layout I forgot..
I am working on a database for my own vegetable gardening needs. It will have several modules when finished (Vegetable Info, Planting & Harvest Info, Farm Market Sales & Vendors Info, Expenses and probably more as I go along) and designed for use on iPad and computer. It is currently a work in progress...hope to have a rough version in the coming weeks. Attached are some screen shots of some of the modules...
Here is another screen shot...
And another screen shot...any comments and suggestions appreciated.
Looks great. Keep me posted!
