Gatting the -""" could not be opened. Either the host is not available, or the file is not available on that host- error message.
Any ideas? Opened port 5003.Settings are working fine on other machines
What is the context here? Instant Web Publishing or Filemaker Client attempting to open a shared database?
What exactly are you doing when you get this message? Runnig a script? Opening a file? or ???
We are a branch office attempting to open a remote database located on our server at the HQ. When I initially set up the connection, everything worked. It appears that we are not communicating with the remote server but I cant seem to get the log in prompt back ( when I try to open a remote DB e.g File-Open Remote-Add etc, etc....). Sorry for the ambiguity- I am still learning FMP.... I can open a Terminal Services session(RDP), so I know the server is up.
Open the file with file maker pro and double check the sharing settings.
You might have a damaged file. Recover the file and test the recovered copy.
If that works or Recover reports fixing problems, best practice is to replace your file with an undamaged backup copy.
The whole problem is that I can't get to the file from this specific PC. the file is on a file server 250 miles away. The other machines in my office can get to it fine. I have double and triple checked the settings (IP of the server, file name, path, port, FW rules etc) and all is correct. I uninstalled FMP 10 and reinstalled to try to re establish the connection, but it does not give me the login screen to connect to the remote server.
Hmmm, since other users can access the file, scratch the above suggestions.
Here's an issue you might investigate: Upgraded from FileMaker Pro 10.0v1 to FileMaker Pro 11.0v2 - Can't see Databases on Filemaker Server...
When I link to another table from my Main Menu or the contacts table, it says it cannot find it. But it goes to the folder where it is and I can open it from there. However, it can't remember this. It also keeps giving me password errors -- even after I double check the password settings on all files that are linked in the database.
