      General Activation Error (-12)

      I have received a new company PC. 

       

      Using the existing CDs, we first installed Pro 7 complete and tested - worked fine.  Then installed the Pro 9 upgrade.  When starting we get "A general activation error has occured (-12)".  I did not find this error in a search. 

       

      Never had a problem when this was installed originally several years ago on my old PC.

       

      Running Windows XP Professional Version 5.1 Service Pack 3 on old PC, Service Pack 2 on new PC.

          Error -12 refers to trouble connecting to the activation server at FileMaker, Inc.  If you are still having difficulty and in North America, please contact our Customer Assistance department at toll-free 800-325-2747, and they will help you with the installation.  If you are outside North America, please visit our web site (www.filemaker.com), click on pop-up in the upper-right corner and select your country, and then contact the office nearest you.
