Title

Generating What Should Be a Simple Report

Post

I am having a problem achieving the results I desire.  I used to be a senior computer consultant, so I am not stupid, but the industry has moved in directions I don't understand.  Nobody seems to care about the old fashioned task of running a printed report.

My problem is this:  I want to construct and print a report.  I have a script that runs "OnRecordLoad", containing the following code:

If [DBASE BOOKS::LOCATION = " "]

     Set Variable [$$ON_SHELVES; Value:$$ON_SHELVES + 1]

Else If [DBASE BOOKS::LOCATION = "<"]

     Set Variable [$$REDIRECT; Value:$$REDIRECT + 1]

Else If [DBASE BOOKS::LOCATION = "B"]

     Set Variable [$$BILL_TO_READ; Value:$$BILL_TO_READ + 1]

Else If [DBASE BOOKS::LOCATION = "D"]

     Set Variable [$$DIANE_TO_READ; Value:$$DIANE_TO_READ + 1]

Else If [DBASE BOOKS::LOCATION = "F"]

     Set Variable [$$FCOUNT; Value:$$FCOUNT + 1]

Else If [DBASE BOOKS::LOCATION = "G"]

     Set Variable [$$GIFTS; Value:$$GIFTS + 1]

Else If [DBASE BOOKS::LOCATION = "K"]

     Set Variable [$$KITCHEN; Value:$$KITCHEN + 1]

Else If [DBASE BOOKS::LOCATION = "L"]

     Set Variable [$$LOST; Value:$$LOST + 1]

Else If [DBASE BOOKS::LOCATION = "M"]

     Set Variable [$$MISSING; Value:$$MISSING + 1]

Else If [DBASE BOOKS::LOCATION = "O"]

     Set Variable [$$ODD_SIZE

Else If [DBASE BOOKS::LOCATION = "T"]

     Set Variable [$$TRADED; Value:$$TRADED + 1]

Else If [DBASE BOOKS::LOCATION = "X"]

     Set Variable [$$ADULT; Value:$$ADULT + 1]

Else

     Set Variable [$$BAD_LOCATION; Value:$$BAD_LOCATION + 1]

End If

My summary report is:

" " On Shelves                        <<$$ON_SHELVES>>

"<" Redirect                               <<$$REDIRECT>>

"B" Bill To Be Read               <<$$BILL_TO_READ>>

"D" Diane To Be Read        <<$$DIANE_TO_READ>>

"F" To Be Filed                               <<$$FCOUNT>>

"G" Gifts                                              <<GIFTS>>

"K" Kitchen                                  <<$$KITCHEN>>

"L" Lost                                             <<$$LOST>>

"M" Missing                                   <<$$MISSING>>

"O" Odd Size                               <<$$ODD_SIZE>>

"T" Traded                                      <<$$TRADED>>

"X" Adults Only                                  <<$$ADULT>>

Bad Location Codes               <<$$BAD_LOCATION>>

The text in the left hand column prints just fine, but I get nothing for the variables listed in the

right hand column.  What am I doing wrong?  Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
