The Global Text Field is in a related table (but that's not different from when it did work),
The account does have limited access priv, but I have also tried my original script and my one-step test script in the suspect file using an account with [Full Access] with no difference.
Dropped in an Error capture step and showed it in the Show Dialog step at the end....101 = Missing record. Probably a better solution, but I moved my global holding field into the main table (not the related table) and "poof!" Magic....
Global fields will work from any table, so there was probably something else amiss.
Most developers put all the global fields in one table.
At least it is back working.
It didn't make it into the Known Bugs List, but there's an issue with Insert From Device that results in failure if the global field is not defined in the layout's table.
Well, that's a bug that should have made it on the list. I sure it would have help David out to know that there was an issue.
Thanks for the info
Thanks for the feedback...it is good to know that I didn't lose my mind....it did work....and then didn't..... and I couldn't figure out for the life of me what I did. (Is there place to see "known issue or bugs"?
FMI maintains a thread and PhilModJunk maintains a database, which I copied the links from one of his older post.
This is one of many acknowledged bugs that can be found in the Known Buglist for Filemaker GO thread here in the Report an Issue section of the forum.
It can also be downloaded as a database file from: https://www.dropbox.com/s/jt09b82i0xijbu3/FMP%20Bugs.zip
Actually, I maintain two threads and a supporting database here on behalf of the FileMaker community. When a bug report posted to Report an Issue results in a response from FileMaker Inc. that confirms the existance of a Bug, I add a post to the appropriate thread using data logged in my database.
In this case, I searched out my own DB for this report and didn't find it though I could recall a discussion here where a TS person reported about this issue. It's not a perfect system but better than what we had (which was just the precursor to Report an Issue), before I started doing this.
No disrespect intended, I was trying to give credit where due in my prior post, while trying to answer the question.
I'm sure it takes a lot of work to maintain the database and the threads.
