Layout based script triggers (Those you assign in layout setup...) need to be used sparingly and with caution.
Any script that changes records or switches layouts will also perform any OnRecordLoad and OnLayoutLoad triggered scripts. Thus, you can have a simple script that's worked for years suddenly behave very differently because a recently added Layout based trigger is now interfering with this script.
Is it documented anywhere what all the different levels are and there order of processing e.g. is there a trigger event available when the application/database loads, then when the first or default layout loads and if that layout then has a customer table with related child table(s), where is the priority on processing.
i have several books on FMP, albeit for version 9 and none refer to this aspect of the development.
